MCAD Student Jerry Shih

In remembrance of Jerry, please visit the College Center tomorrow (Friday) between 12 and 1 pm to write a note, make a card, or fold an origami bunny to be sent to his family.

While his family requested not to have a service, they do welcome cards and any special notes you want to share. Jerry had a special fondness for bunnies, so paper bunnies are appreciated, too. These will all be collected and sent to the family.

Student Affairs will provide materials for you to create something special.

Join us tomorrow, November 14, at noon in the back of College Center (near the piano) to create a memory for Jerry's family.

Dear MCAD Students, Staff, and Faculty,

It is with great sadness that I share the news that Jerry Shih, a senior Film major at MCAD, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He was an outstanding student, deeply admired for his kindness, creativity, and dedication. His classmates and faculty remember him for his generosity of spirit and the joy he brought to his work.

Jerry received his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota and his M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas, and a B.A. in East Asian Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.

In addition to his studies at MCAD, Jerry was a counseling psychologist and educator who recently joined Saint Mary’s University as a core assistant professor. His professional life was devoted to helping others, and his compassion touched many lives.

A mosaic artist and baritone singer with the Minnesota Valley Men’s Chorale, Jerry brought artistry and heart to everything he did.

We extend our condolences to Jerry’s family, friends, and classmates.

Sincerely,
Jen
