Safety Bulletin, 10/7/25--Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft

Date of Report: October 6, 2025
Time of Report: 5:23 p.m.
Location: Parking Lot C

Campus Safety received a report of an attempted motor vehicle theft from Lot C on the afternoon of October 6, 2025. The window of a gray Kia Forte was broken, and the interior was rummaged through. Fortunately, nothing appears to have been stolen, and recent software updates to the vehicle appear to have prevented the theft.

Upon reviewing surveillance footage, Campus Safety observed three female suspects entering Lot C at approximately 4:28 p.m. They were seen attempting to open multiple vehicle doors and waited until the area was clear before targeting the Kia Forte. After being unable to start the vehicle, the group exited campus toward Stevens Avenue, where a male accomplice had parked a black Kia. The three female suspects entered that vehicle while the male transferred into a second unknown vehicle on the street.

The suspects were last seen heading northbound on Stevens Avenue at approximately 4:53 p.m.

The Minneapolis Police Department has been notified, and the investigation is ongoing.
