In light of the recent public rhetoric and actions directed at the Somali community, I want to state clearly and unequivocally: our Somali students, faculty, staff, and neighbors are valued by this college.
All of our immigrant communities contribute to the intellectual, economic, and cultural fabric of our city and nation. Everyone deserves respect and to feel safe. Words that demean any group, especially those that have historically faced discrimination, have real implications. We have a shared responsibility to uphold an environment in which every member of our community, no matter what background, can learn, work, and thrive.
