Follow-Up Regarding Recent Threatening Email

Dear MCAD Community,

Yesterday, we shared information about a threatening email that had been received by several members of the MCAD community and reported to law enforcement.

Since then, we have learned from the FBI and our law enforcement partners that similar messages were sent to multiple institutions across the region and appear to be part of a broader swatting or hoax effort. At this time, there is no known credible threat to the MCAD campus.

The student reported last seeing the vehicle at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026. After discovering the vehicle was no longer present, the student checked with the Minneapolis impound lot due to nearby street paving activity and confirmed the vehicle had not been towed.
