UPCYCLED FILMS for NOWNESS Film Search

UPCYCLED FILMS will be collaborating with NOWNESS, on a curatorial project, to promote our new film platform.

UPCYCLED FILMS will be an online, film programming platform that restores and revives old and lost short films from around the globe. I’m essentially providing access to vintage films that have not been seen by a wider audience. The solution is to highlight films from the Global South, Indigenous peoples worldwide, under-resourced communities, and films, overall, that have a potent, visual language made pre 2010s.

Call for Submissions: Presidential Correspondence Award

Dear MCAD Students,

I’m pleased to open the eighth annual Presidential Correspondence Award Competition. I encourage you to participate in this year’s round of submissions.

This competition is a chance to have your work featured on MCAD notecards, which I use throughout the year to stay in touch with colleagues, supporters, and partners. It is a great opportunity to have your work shared with a wide audience. I know the recipients appreciate receiving great examples of the creativity that takes place on campus.

Campus Community

Dear Students,

It’s wonderful to be kicking off a new academic year! I have enjoyed meeting those of you who are new to MCAD, and greeting those who are returning.

One thing I love about MCAD is our remarkable campus community. Sustaining our supportive environment means that, among other things, we deal with challenges, conflicts, and concerns in ways that promote sharing, listening, growth, and respect.

Are you curious about the connection between queer theory and daily life? Frustrated that your standards for social justice and change simply aren't supported by your peers/family/co-workers? Worried that college isn't adequately preparing you for your future? Yeah, me too. Join me in reading the introduction to Lauren Berlant's On the Inconvenience of Other People (PDF provided when you RSVP) and let's talk about all this and more. Berlant, one of the kindest, cutest, smartest thinkers of the 21st century so far, might just have some answers for us.
