Alert: reported armed vehicle theft

Thursday, November 11th, MCAD Campus Safety was informed of an armed carjacking that occurred off campus to a local neighborhood resident who is unaffiliated with MCAD on Saturday 11/06/2021 At 10:00 PM. The carjacking at gunpoint occurred on 25TH ST and Stevens AVE.

 Suspects were described as 2 unknown persons wearing Covid masks. Suspects approached the victim as he was exiting his vehicle and demanded the keys at gunpoint. Three additional suspects then entered the car and all five suspects drove away in the victim’s vehicle.

Campus Safety would like to inform the campus community of an increase in aggressive panhandling and cases of verbal harassment by non-MCAD affiliated persons on and around campus. Suspects are approaching and demanding money, typically stating they are a victim of abuse and trying to buy a bus ticket.

Campus Safety would like to stress the importance to all: Do NOT give out money or any personal information (to include address or phone number).

Covid Rapid Testing Option Now Available At MCAD

MCAD is pleased to announce that we will be offering an on-going, on-campus, free rapid covid testing clinic to MCAD Community members beginning on Monday September 27th. In conjunction with the Minnesota Department of Health, MCAD will be using the Cue Health diagnostic system that uses an anterior nasal swab which is self administered and needs to go only about 1” into the nose.
