MCAD’s Learning Center is an interdisciplinary academic support center that includes Disability Services. The Center supports equitable access to education; runs the Peer Mentor Program; and offers online and in-person assistance with writing, software, time management, study skills, English as a Foreign/Second Language and professional development.
Peer Tutoring
Writing tutoring is offered on course assignments, professional documents such as cover letters and resumes, and graduate theses.
Software tutoring is offered on the Adobe Suite, Maya, and technical skills associated with MCAD courses.
Student Sucess Coaching
Student success coaching includes time management coaching and focused meetings to connect students with resources on campus and in the community to help them succeed in college.
English as a Second/Foreign Language Services
The ESL/EFL Services includes focused time on the needs of ESL/EFL students through an English language study group, art critique practice, and ESL/EFL writing and study help.
Online Writing, Software and Student Sucess Resources
The Learning Center offers students 24-hour access to writing, software and student success resources through its Intranet website.
Peer Mentor Program
The peer mentor program pairs first-year students with a mentor and a small cohort of fellow students to aid in the transition to college or a new semester. The Program offers support for study skills, time management, transitioning to college and more.
Disability Services
Disability Services provides reasonable accommodations and focused time on the needs of students with disabilities. These services are provided to ensure equitable access to education for students who self-disclose a documented disability to the Learning Center Director.
