Printing Resources for MCAD Staff

Most offices or departments have their own small printer or multifunction device (print/copy/scan). These are intended for everyday, low-volume printing or copying needs. When you print within your own office or department those charges are paid by that department. If you print on any of the public devices around the College (like in the Library or 225 Studio area) our PaperCut system automatically charges those prints back to your department. Your department head will get a report at the end of every month detailing any of those charges.

Information for departmental devices

  • Our printer or copier needs toner
    • All institutionally purchased devices are required to have a service contract with our vendor Loffler and are part of their Autoship program. Replacement toners should ship automatically when the toner level falls below 20%. You should not be purchasing toner from an external vendor.
    • If your device is running low and no new toner has appeared please contact Tyler Page.
  • We need paper
    • The MCAD Service Bureau stocks bulk copy/print paper in 8.5x11 and 11x17, available by the ream or by the case. Departments or offices are welcome to order through external vendors if they choose.
  • Our printer or copier needs service
    • The Loffler service contract also covers any service visits, parts, labor, etc. If your device is having a problem please contact the MCAD Help Desk first. For immediate assistance you can call the number on the red Loffler sticker to place a service call yourself.
  • We need to replace or purchase a new device

Using the MCAD Service Bureau

For high-volume or materials other than plain copy paper you'll want to use the
MCAD Service Bureau. The SB provides many other services in addition to printing and copying, like binding, folding, stapling, finishing, laminating, and MORE.

  • Not sure if you need to use the MCAD Service Bureau for your project? Send them an email (sbureau@mcad.edu) or make an appointment to discuss your needs.
  • The MCAD Service Bureau requires print-ready files for all orders. (The SB does not offer any design services nor any supplementary pre-press or file setup.)

  • If you do not currently have access to the Adobe Suite but would like access to these tools please contact the MCAD Help Desk. If you need help designing or laying out files for print you may want to consult with DesignWorks and fill out their Project Intake Form.
    • Some departments will also have their workstudy student(s) do this type of work (or hire a student specifically for that need.)
  • Can Staff use SB services for personal projects?
